FAQs

What is Aspen?

Aspen is the student information system (SIS) used by the Millbury Public Schools. This system stores the data for student grades, attendance, schedules, and more.

What is the Family Portal?

The Family Portal is the student and parent/guardian website access to Aspen. In this portal you will have access to classroom assignments, grades, attendance, and schedules. The portal allows you to take an active part in your child's education by providing classroom progress information at your convenience.

How do I sign up for a portal account?

Custodial parents can sign up for an account by clicking on the SIGN UP link at the left of this page. All children attending school in your family can be viewed in the same account. Once your application is approved you will receive a username and password via email that will enable you to log into the portal.

How do I log into the Family Portal?

The easiest way to log into the portal is to use this website - http://portal.millburyschools.org - or click on the link from the front page of the district or school websites.

Which schools are participating in the Family Portal?

At this time the Junior Senior High School (grades 7 through 12) is participating in the portal roll out.

How do I obtain help?

The Aspen Family Portal was designed to be very easy to use. To understand how to navigate the portal please click on the help library by clicking on the HELP DOCUMENTS link in the menu at the left side of this page.  On the help documents page there is a four minute overview video that highlights the portal's features. A quick reference sheet is designed to get you quickly up to speed on the portal. More in-depth information is available in the family portal user manual should you need it.

If the answer to your question is not in the HELP DOCUMENTS library, please use the CONTACT US link in the menu on the left side of this page.

How soon should I expect to see grades in the portal after an assignment has been handed in?

Your child's classroom teacher understands that grade reporting is an important part of you being able to measure your child's progress in class. Teachers are expected to enter grades in a timely manner for this to be effective.

Please keep in mind that that the time it takes to enter a grade once an assignment is turned in may vary based on a number of factors. Sometimes an assignment's grade is delayed because it is being discussed in class or until all students in the class have completed it. The assignment may also be part of a larger assignment that will be graded as a whole. In any case, please allow the teacher ample time to properly assess your child's work so that the grade accurately reflects the effort put into it.

What should I do if I have a question about an assignment or grade?

If you have any questions about an assignment or a grade, please contact your child's teacher preferably via email. In order to improve communications between you and the teacher, please use a descriptive subject line in your email message (such as "Question from John Doe's parent") so that your child's teacher can recognize that the message is related to one of their students. This will help the teacher identify that your email is important and needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Please be sure to use the correct spelling of the email address so that your email message will not be rejected by the email server.

What should I do if I have a question about daily attendance?

Attendance questions should be directed to the main office of the school.
